Billy Batson, also known as Shazam, is a superhero character from DC Comics. This version of the character is primarily associated with the "New 52" era, a 2011 relaunch of DC's comic book line.
Billy is a troubled foster child who is chosen by the ancient wizard Shazam to be his champion. By speaking the wizard's name, "Shazam!", Billy is transformed into a powerful adult superhero with abilities granted by mythological figures.
